Board of Directors

Our Board is made up entirely of volunteer directors.  The Board sets the strategic direction of the outreach program.  Currently, the following individuals are part of the Board of Directors:

Sherry Darvish

Sherry Darvish was called to the Bar in 2000.  She articled at a prestigious Bay Street law firm, following which she was tax counsel at the Department of Justice for over ten years.  In 2009, Sherry became an adjudicator at the Workplace Safety Insurance Appeals Tribunal. In 2016, she was appointed as a Deputy Judge at the Small Claims Court in Richmond Hill, Ontario, a division of the Superior Court of Justice. She is also an adjudicator on the Dicipline Committees at the Ontario College of Trades and the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council.  Sherry has appeared at many levels of court including the Superior Court of Justice, the Tax Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal.  Sherry is an active member of her community.  She volunteers her time by mentoring young lawyers.  She is a director at the Society of Ontario Adjudicators and Regulators and she is co-founder of CILAC Probono.   Sherry also has a Masters in Taxation from the University of Waterloo.  Sherry is fluent in French and has working knowledge of Farsi.

Yalda Riahi

Yalda Riahi was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2011 after obtaining her LL.B. from the University of Windsor, J.D. (cum laude) from the University of Detroit-Mercy, Bachelor of Arts with Honours (magna cum laude) in Philosophy from York University, and Bachelor of Commerce from Ryerson University.  Yalda currently practices law as an associate at a full-service boutique law firm in Vaughan and also as in-house counsel to a national corporation.  Yalda's practice is focused on corporate-commercial law and commercial litigation.  Yalda is very dedicated to serving her community, has served as a volunteer board member on renowned community centers and charity organizations, and has proudly co-founded CILAC Pro Bono.  Yalda places great value on seizing every opportunity to volunteer her services in an effort to enhance access to justice within the community.  Yalda is fluent in Farsi.

Rose Bahrami

Firoozeh Rose Bahrami was called to the Ontario Bar in 2005 and is the founder of Bahrami Law Office. As a qualified Canadian lawyer, she provides clients with knowledgeable and efficient legal advice on a variety of issues. Her main practice areas are real estate, business law and wills and estate law. In addition to her legal work, she is a former board member of the Iranian Canadian Lawyers Association and has professional affiliation with many professional and community organizations. She has also written articles and appeared on TV discussing legal issues. Ms. Bahrami obtained her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biology and Professional Writing from the University of Toronto and a bachelor of laws (LL.B.) from the University of Ottawa. She is also a member of the following professional organizations: Law Society of Upper Canada; Toronto Lawyers Association; Iranian Canadian Network; the Iranian Canadian Real Estate Professionals (Advisory Board); and the Iranian Canadian Legal Professionals Association.
